"Mercury Men cherish their dandelions, but also their wounds, for every scab comes from a love."
Boxing Day was shot in my hometown, Chongqing, China. I've always been obsessed with hospitals as a space that simultaneously house trauma and healing, and I have many memories of hospitals from my childhood. And in this hospital and dreamcore atmosphere created by Boxing Day, beautiful things - innocence, childhood, tenderness, dreams, lovely people ...... glow in the gloom shrouded by pain - that's what I want to bring to the world.
For me, love and beauty have always been the most worthwhile values to put into practice in a world full of misfortunes and dystopias; yet at the same time, we seem to need to repeatedly navigate through the sufferings of life: how to act? The inspiration for this story was born when I wrote, "Every scab comes from a love" - love brings healing, but loving also requires enduring pain. The tender and powerful human heart will not stop loving because it is afraid of pain.
